Also called Togakushi-Ryu, The founder of Togakure-Ryu was Daisuke Nishina (仁科大助), a former Minamoto samurai from the 12th century.

Nishina served Kiso Yoshinaka (木曾義仲; 1154 - 1184), also known as Minamoto no Yoshinaka (源 義仲), and after being defeated by Minamoto no Yoshitsune (源義経), Nishina fled to Iga to practice aestheticism in Mt. Togakushi. Thus, Togakure was born. It is most influential Ninjutsu in modern times.

Eighteen Gates (十八門)[]

It's said that these eighteen things or juuhachimon, styled from old Japanese martial arts, are required to learn as ninja:

  • 精神的教養
  • 骨法体術
  • Sword Art (剣法; kenpō)
  • Horse Riding (馬術; umajutsu)
  • heaven gate (天門; tenmon)
  • Shuriken (手裏剣)

Trivia[]

  • Yoshinaka was killed by Yoshitsune and Noriyori; so it is a possibly that Nishina fled after the Battle of Awazu.
