Kamegare is a fictional mecha in Heroic Blaze SolAka.

Creation and concept

The name is a combination of kame (turtle in Japanese) and jägare (hunter in Swedish).

Because Xuan Wu represents the north and the winter season, and Generai Yami rules the North on Planet Shenbu, Kamegare takes the form of a giant tortoise. Tamonten/Bishamonten (Vaiśravaṇa) is the Buddhist counterpart of the tortoise. Tamonten is also called the Black Warrior, while Yami's name means darkness. MGW had a concern of using two turtle-based super robots in the series, both based on the same myth. However, the serpent aspect from Chinese culture is put in Kamegare.

In Hinduism, Yami is sometimes called Yamuna, which is the name of a notable river and is also worshipped as a goddess. When the naga (serpent) Kaliya was defeated by Krishna, the river became dark. Before that, the river was poisonous.

In the Agni Purana, Yamuna (goddess) is described as "black in complexion" and stands on a tortoise mount, holding a water pot in her hand.
